Primal Backpacking Food Prep

Hello again! My friends and I have been planning a 3 day backpacking trip to Yosemite for a few months now, and though I have many concerns, my biggest one is definitely how to eat primally out on the trail. I know that rice and pasta are calorie dense and last a long time, but I want to be able to maintain my lifestyle even in the wilderness. It’s been a challenge, but I’ve finally prepared my Primal Backpacking Food List for this weekend:

  • 1 bunch kale
  • 2 boiled eggs
  • 1 bag almonds
  • 3 avocados
  • 1 lime
  • 1 red onion (chopped)
  • 1 ziplock baby carrots (chopped)
  • 2 packages jerky
  • 1 package smoked salmon
  • 1 ziplock almond butter
  • 1 small bottle olive oil
  • 1 small bottle honey
  • 1 dark chocolate bar
  • 1/2 block cheese
  • 1 small container salt&pepper

I’m so excited to try this out! My friends are a little worried that I won’t have enough food, but I’ve been paying a lot of attention to the amount of food I actually need to feel satiated lately, and it’s pretty small. I know we’ll be up around 8,000 feet elevation, and doing a lot of hiking, but I’m feeling pretty confident right now. I’ll be posting next week when I get back about how it all worked out.
